- טְלַלIII, טְלָלָא m. (טְלַל I) 1) (= h. צֵל) shade, shadow. Targ. Koh. 8:13 (some ed. טול). Ib. 6:12. Targ. Ps. 91:1; a. fr. 2) (cmp. סבך, סֻכָּה, מָסָךְ) cover of twigs, reeds ; in gen. ceiling, cover, screen. Targ. Ps. 27:5; a. fr.Ber.19a נפל קניא מט׳ (Ms. M. משמי ט׳) a reed fell down from the ceiling. Ib. 48a אחוי לשמי ט׳ pointed up to the ceiling. B. Kam.66b מעיקרא כשורא והשתא ט׳ formerly it was named beam, now ceiling, v. מָרֵיש.Pl. טְלָלַיָּא. Targ. Job 40:21, sq. (h. text צאלים).
